Breath in the good Egyptian air - step onto the luscious green tee box - raise your club and swing free. And you are off.
Off to play the game of your life on this sublime course designed by the famous and talented Sir Nick Faldo.
This hole is fairly straightforward and not especially difficult.
A solid drive favouring the right side of the fairway will open the green up to leave a short iron to the green.
Bunkers on the left side protect this hole. Good opening hole.

.....................................................................................

No.2 : Par 4 – 340yards
This interesting but testing little hole will tempt any golfer to aim for the green in one.
However be aware any shots leaking to the left will catch the first water on the golf course.
If you believe you may miss your target, make sure you miss to the right.
Bunkers guard this small green like Egyptian soldiers guard the pyramids, so accuracy with the short iron is a must.
Good birdie opportunity.

.................................................................................

Hole 3: Par 5 – 590yards
This is the first of the Par 5’s and it is an amazingly designed hole, with a generous route to the greens.
Even for the more courageous among us, this is a three shot Par 5.
With water running up the left side of the fairway, like the Nile that runs through Cairo, a careful tee-shot is necessary.
An accurate second shot will leave around 100-120 yards to the green.
The short iron approach will offer golfers an ideal opportunity for a birdie. !!! Be aware!!!!
The green is surrounded by water and bunkers, so it’s not such an easy chance unless you land safely on the green
.

..............................................................................

Hole 4: Par 4 – 460yards.
A hole which will test any golfer – be it Rory McIlroy, Lee Westwood or 18 handicapper.
The big hitters, the Sir Faldo bunker, as it has been nick named, if carried will definitely offer a great birdie opportunity.
The remainder of these ambrosial, green fairways is now simply waiting for your shots.
Water protects the right side of the fairway and bunkers to the left guard this slightly elevated green.

.................................................................................

Hole 5: Par 4 – 410 yards
Precision is the key to this daunting tee shot! Why?
Because of the many hazards with water on the right and a large bunker on the left makes this tee shot daunting.
Well delivered tee shot will give the player a real opportunity to hit the green for the second!
Be conscious a back pin position can entice many golfers to attack the pin but there are several hazards lurking should the green be missed.

.............................................................................................

Hole 6: Par 3 -250yards
This first Par 3 on the golf course. A difficult and lengthy opening short hole.
The green only protected by a few bunkers on the right.
The real challenge begins once on the green.
Due to the undulating slopes on these lush greens anyone who achieves a two putt will walk off suitably relieved.

.........................................................................................

Par 7: Par 5 - 615yards
If anyone considered Hole 3, the first Par-5 hard going, they are in for a treat when they tee it up on the 7th because although it’s 25 yards longer,
 it’s a serious birdie chance.
To take advantage of this ’gift’ favour the left side of the fairway off the tee as the right side is heavily bunkered.
For most, this is another three shot Par 5.
But those aggressive hitters can find the green in two should they miss the litter of bunkers defending this green.
 Another good birdie opportunity.

..................................................................................

Par 8: Par 3 – 210Yards
This is a spectacularly picturesque hole.
A shot that finds this green deserves, ???? ??? (birdie) but full concentration is advised to achieve this feat.
It’s too easy to be distracted by the beauty of the water- falls and plantation
but the lake up the right side does draw many golf walls to its watery grave.

.................................................................................

Par 9: Par 4 – 455 yards
Take a little time out here. Look around and get connected with nature.
This hole was voted by the tour players as their favourite hole on the golf course, suggested it must be one of the most picturesque holes in Egypt.
What is required here is a very accurate tee shot, as water flows on the right side.
Even shots that find this luxurious fairway will still find the second shot very taxing.
Water left and back of the green shields this green with a cluster of bunkers on the right, does make life harder for the golfer.
Laying up short of the green may be the best option but a Par on this hole is a great score.

..........................................................................................

Hole 10: Par 4 – 495yards
And so to the ‘back’ nine. Meander around the lake to the tee, a wide alluring fairway greets the keen golfer.
Lift up your club, swing high in the sky and let your ball and spirits take flight.
This is a great start for better things to come.
Although a long hole there is a generous run up area to the green so balls will find this large green.
Favour the right side when approaching this green as danger lurks the opposite side.

.....................................................................................

Hole 11: Par 5 – 595yards
The best eagle opportunity on the course is on this hole.
When the golfer is positioned at the highest point on this hole and can take their eyes of this breath taking view,
there is a real good chance of a successful score.
From this elevated tee box the golfer can open the shoulders and let loose.
Lots of room rights so do not be afraid to give this tee shot a good hit!! The green can be made in two with a long iron.
There is lots of room left should the golfer decide to lay up.

.......................................................................................

Hole 12: Par 3 – 175 yards
Egypt is full of history and so is this location.
This is the first hole at Katameya Dunes in which a player achieved a ‘hole in one’.
This large protected green surrounded by water and bunkers will make any golfers heart beat faster.
While the heart may be in overdrive, it is vital that the player stays calm,
and focused as they sharply strike their club face onto the ball and direct it towards this beautifully constructed green.

.........................................................................................

Hole 13: Par 4 - 400 yards
The semi circle of bunkers gives an illusion of a hole which appears closer.
A good tee shot will leave a mid-iron shot to the putting surface.
With a smooth generous green a birdie is a good possibility.
Any shots missing left will be in the desert.
This is the beginning of a good back to back birdie opportunity on the golf course.

.......................................................................................

Hole 14: Par 4 – 320 yards
This is the second Par 4 hole.
This exquisitely designed green surrounded by the cool water of the Nile has unnerved many top players.
The courage of the famous Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses II is needed to face the task of winning the battle of this magnificent golf hole.

..................................................................................

Hole 15: Par 4 – 425 yards
Stop and observe most the 5,500 palm trees – energize yourself with the vision before your eyes.
Funnel this energy to drive your club forward.
Take care to keep to the right. Avoid a ‘visit’ to the large bunker on the left - a bunker filled with the golden sand from the Egyptian desert.
An elevated green makes the second shot that bit trickier
but there is a large green to hold the balls so take extra club as any ball that’s comes up short will come back to your feet.

.................................................................................................

Hole 16: Par 3 – 230yards
The final Par 3. Many tour players have commented that the par 3 on the course is very strong and this hole will not disappoint.
From this elevated tee box the golfer can look at this hole with excited anticipation.
Taking heed of the water protecting the left side and bunkers protecting any shots that come up short,
the golfer can attack this pin with the reassurance that the green will do what is needed for success -
feed the ball back to the correct destination.

.............................................................................................

Hole 17: Par 4 – 465yards
This is considered by top players to be one of the most difficult holes on the golf course.
This is a severe dogleg right hole.
The players must find the fairway to have any change of making this green in two.
To ‘find’ the fairway the player must be committed and strike through as the tee shot is all uphill so a good strike is needed.
The lavish green awaits a long iron shot; any misses that occur should be short or left as bunkers pepper the right side of the green.

......................................................................................

Hole 18: Par 5 - 625 yards
Probably the best finishing hole in Egypt. This hole offers something for everyone.
The big hitter has the opportunity to finish with an eagle by going for the green in two but also offers the little hitter to finish with a birdie.
Good course management skills are needed for this hole as water lurks all up the right side to the green.
Why is this hole so glorious – because like everything in this beautiful country – it is exciting, glorious and picturesque.
This will be a fantastic finish hole for any future European Tour Event.
